THERE IS A MIDDLE

THERE IS A MIDDLE

Once things got going
You could say a start
There was a middle
Comes right from His heart.

You’d have noticed
It seemed to be the end
But it was actually the beginning
Of the middle of the song.

It’s kinda how it works
Being loved before the start
Just imagine the sting
Within the Light of that heart

No easy thing
This giving before it all
Knowing the cost to be paid
Full tab for the fall

Yeah, the cross in the middle
Hands stretched from before to tomorrow
Made no mistake
There was unimaginable sorrow

But the Song always has been
Can you hear your refrain?
It starts in that middle
It is finished, never again.

AMONGST THE SHADOWS

Dancing with the shadows

Are we all not called
To be ministers of the light?
Even dancing with Joy
Amongst the shadows of the night?

Being light of foot
Where even angels fear to tread
Lifting up countenances from their grief
Sharing the Wine and the Bread

Let us be the refreshment
Even crushed and poured out
Reviving mottling lips
Restored with life brimming shouts!

It is to His glory!
It is to His pleasure!
He’s given absolutely everything
He’s our very treasure!

So be being His light
Dance without fatigue
There’s more joy never ending
Amongst those free indeed

GRACE NOTESPoetry

I KISS YOU

no thumb

I feel desired.
I feel accepted
I feel the chance
Of even being rejected.

What if I stink?
What if I’m discovered?
What might just this kiss
Culturally uncover.

That I’m nervous?
Even afraid?
What if you find out
That I’m just a dull blade.

That can’t even cut the grass
Let alone mow the yard
I try to keep things watered
But sometimes it’s sure hard.

And then there you are
Up close and personal.
Gots great big blues
Looking right inside the doors.

Have I got what it takes?
Will I have to find more?

Oh there it is!
Full contact now.
No turning back.
Oh jeez! Oh wow!

OK. Here, I am
This might work
You can have all I got
You can have the whole sky, rain and dirt.

Some times there’s little.
Some time’s there’s more.
You most often start this thing.
So here, hold on, let’s soar.

Hey wait a minute!
This isn’t so bad.
Who’s idea was this.
Anyway, I’m sure glad.

Yeah, I’m intimidated.
A full deal woman.
Right here in my arms.
Together, we’re sure some one.

Well. Who would have thought.
Lock that dang door.
There’s so much more than a simple kiss.
No end to the more.

So I feel your love.
And I know it’s true.
Up close and personal.
I get to kiss the real you.

Even when there’s short falls
And my poorly executed moves.
You are still my sweetest darling
My bride, my love, I kiss you.

WHAT IS YOUR NAME

download (1)

Vapors of sorrow
Whispers of delight
From just which direction
Comes unapproachable light?

Are you sweet?
Or are you sour?
Can’t you just be something
For one whole hour?

Must you muddy the clear
And taint the spring?
Just what drives this folly
Can’t you name that thing?

Doubt the gentle?
Ridicule the kind?
Piss on the fire
And then trip up the blind?

What is your name?
The root of your desire?
Destined for darkness
And unquenchable fire.

Resist and flee!
Begone, and swept away!
I am a new creature
An ever fresh day-spring I say!

So up and away!
The cross has done
The work completed
A new song being sung

Jesus the Name!
Jesus the Way!
Given quivering lips
So I too can say…

Jesus is Lord!
No place now for sorrow
Brand new today
Even more tomorrow

THE HOLY’S TALKING

18221801_1032159290254732_5586268167584424389_n

Who even notices
I’ve been walking
I just wonder sometimes
Do you hear me even talking?

I’m trying the good
Resisting the bad
Who evens notices
My efforts seem sad

But your Word prevails
Your Truth speaks still
If I’m quiet and listen
There’s hope continually until

The last trump will sound
The final call to glory
Who will even notice
The end of this one story

“It is finished”
It’s what you said
Who even noticed
That you’re no longer dead?

Thanks for listening
I’ll just keep walking
Because of your love beyond wonder
I can now hear the Holy talking.

HANDS IN THE FOG

Fog (1)

Vapors lingering
Fogs of deceit
Sticky whispers floating
That I’m incomplete

Why must you too
Be part of the refrain
Isn’t it enough
Of course I am lame

How can I explain
What I don’t yet understand
That hands in the fog
Often feel like wet sand

Almost, but not quite
There, but gone
Melody begins
And then it is done

Is it really safer
To cry in the night
Or be still in the darkness
And watch whispers loose sight

Once I notice
Twice I hear
Three goes into
My chambers of fear

So even whispers now echo
They float in my bog
Slipping from one to three so easily
There’s hands in the fog

Sadly touch is lost
Only was briefly found
Is it echos or real
Can I even hear their sound?

I just shirk and flinch
Start and withdraw
The echos in threes
The pain is still raw.

WOULD YOU GO BACK

18208945_1028875233916471_5290677944718008007_o

Would you go back?
Back to yesterday?
Are there memories of comfort
Hazy, warm, yet maybe

They are not so true
Time’s an elusive friend
Just when you thought there’s enough
The end comes once again

And just which yesterday
Is safe for such awhile
Was that really a kiss
Or just a fading smile

Then the morning comes
Just when it was the darkest…
Heard it all before?
Listen once more

Today is the day
Let it not pass into sorrow
You may receive the gift of life
The hope beyond tomorrow

Would you go back?
When there’s new beginnings always yet to be
His is the most precious of gifts
Blood bought for you to be free.

Would you go back?
Like the times before?
When you’ve known all along
There’ so much more?

POOP ON THE FLOOR

17760104_1008900602580601_8239619484145394269_n

It’s better to not
Ignore what was before
Get to cleaning it up
Especially poop on the floor

That poop is a clue
That something was not right
Was it possible that you
Didn’t let her out last night?

Of course there’s poop
And then there’s poop
Learning to own and clean up
Requires bowing in humility

Then there’s those others
Maybe never been house trained
Or just…
Are outside dogs

So how’s your floor?
I’m back to forgive and being forgiving
A full spray bottle of detergent
Makes for more pleasant living

“Damn filthy dogs!
Just look at my floor!”
Just remember the detergent
And just shut the dang door.

A PATH WELL LIT

17634715_1007983926005602_8073894280738693936_n

Are you still counting stitches
“Oh hell yes
I got emotional pus
To prove it”

Looks like an old cloak.
Been wearing it for some time
The weather changes
You wanna look “just fine”

Well, I’ve a nose for such things
Having been stunk myself
I try not to save those grudges
On a rotting emotional shelf

Circumstances accumulate
Choices are dynamic
Forgive and be forgiving
Is the path well lit

Or is the cloak just so familiar
Covering even your eyes
Matches the fashions of the season
Of well colored lies

CROWS EATING EYEBALLS

28TOKYO-master1050

I feel both
I feel the knowledge
I know of right and wrong
Even before I went to college

I have sung of both
Sometimes in just one song
It’s of the short of it
And way beyond what we know long

There’s no getting around it
No escape will there be found
From the knowledge of good and evil
Like the dust of the ground

It’s in the air
Within in our very breath
It carries forth the stench
Of everlasting death

There is however
A capitol Good
For botched untested innocence
He got nailed to some wood

So there’s your Good news
Delivered fresh today
Your part is but confess
Accept as you pray

He gives Good for the wrong
He gave all for the right
For you He went in darkness
So you’d escape the night

So the both is still out there
What you got inside?
Crows eating eyeballs
Or Good Life now inside
